Second graders have homework every night. We encourage the students to read for 20 minutes, practice their math facts, review spelling words past and present, and practice the Dolch Sight Word lists.
When your child brings home a homework sheet on a particular day, it is always due the next day, unless otherwise stated. Daily work that is not completed in class will become homework too.
All homework needs to be done with parent supervision in order to reinforce your child's learning. Please check over their homework before it is due. We recommend reading over the directions with your child, letting them attempt the skills on their own, and then going over their work with them to make sure they understood and mastered the concepts. Homework is always relevant to what we are working on in class, so if they seem to struggle with a particular sheet, they may need extra help with that concept at home.
