    Dr. Matt Outlaw was selected as the Brighton Area Schools superintendent.

    The Brighton Area Schools Board of Education hereby invites stakeholders to participate in a virtual question and answer session with each of the three final candidates to be our next superintendent.

    September 1 - 3: Virtual finalist Q & A session with stakholders are scheduled as follows: 

    Tuesday, September 1 - Sharon Irvine
    Wednesday, September 2 - Ben Mainka
    Thursday, September 3 - Matt Outlaw

    Questions should be submitted in advance to John Silveri of the Michigan Leadership Institute, who is assisting the Board with this search process: jsilverimli@gmail.com.  Please identify yourself by name and position; staff, student, parent, or community member when submitting your questions(s). Mr. Silveri will be reading the questions to the candidates and will share who submitted them.

    At it's August 21, 2020 special meeting the Board of Education selected the following (3) candiates, Matt Outlaw, Sharon Irvine and Ben Mainka to move forward to the second round of interviews for the position of Superintendent of Schools that board meeting will be held on Monday, August 31 at 6PM.

    • Brighton Area Schools Board of Education is searching for a new Superintendent of Schools. The Michigan Leadership Institute has been engaged with the Board to find the best possible candidate for the position. The Board is asking for community input to assist them in providing feedback on each of our (6) superintendent candidates after observing their first round interviews.

    • Responses to this survey will be submitted to the MLI Search Consultant and will be presented to the Board of Education for their consideration. The Board of Education appreciates your help.

    Search Activities Timeline

    • June 4 @ 6 P.M.: Meet with Board of Education to gather input, establish parameters of search, agree upon timeline
    • June 8 - June 22: Post online survey and gather data to develop candidate profile and district/community profile; create and finalize posting
    • June 23 - July 31: Post position, place advertisements, accept applications until 4:00 P.M. (4 ½ weeks) on agreed upon date (July 31)
    • August 3 @ 4:30 P.M.: Presentation of applicants and determination by Board of candidates to interview
    • August 17 - 19 @ 6 P.M.: First round interviews conducted
    • August 21 @ 5 P.M.: Finalists determined
    • August 31 @ 6 P.M.: Finalist interviews conducted
    • September 1 - 3: Virtual finalist Q & A session with stakholders are scheduled as follows:

    • Week of September 14: Board subcommittee visits to finalist work sites
    • September 23: Selection of superintendent
    • October 12: Board action to approve contract and hire new superintendent
    • October 26: Tentative first official work day for new superintendent
