Mrs. Gluth's Music Site
Welcome to Music Classes at Spencer!
We are so excited to welcome our new students and staff to Spencer School.
Spencer Singers is a group of students who enjoy singing and performing. We usually perform 3 to 4 times during the school year at assemblies or grade level program nights. We began rehearsals in November for our third and fourth grade students.
Rehearsals are held at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning in the music room and registration is required.
If your third or fourth grader did not bring home an invitation and is interested in participating, please see the download form and contact Mrs. Gluth.
Fourth graders will present their music program to family and friends on December 15 at 7:00 p.m in the Spencer Gym. We attended the afternoon rehearsal of the Brighton High School Bands BAND-O-RAMA. They will be going to Ann Arbor in November to see a special performance by the Rebirth Jazz Band. This is a unique cultural experience for our students.
Third Graders are have begun their study of recorders. Reading and writing music for the songs we're playing has taken a great deal of our time. Third graders are preparing for their music performance on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Spencer Gym.
Second Graders are working on the song "Old Joe Clark". We know the form for the song is verse refrain. We're working on a number of songs with movement activities and are reading the story of "The Magic Flute", an opera by W.A. Mozart. Ask your child to retell the story.
First Graders are learning to identify the sound of the musical themes of CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS.
Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten are exploring the use of simple classroom instruments, movement and our voices.
