Dear Maltby Families,

Orientation for 5th grade is Tuesday 8/23 & 6th grade is Wednesday 8/24, however, if you can’t make your grade level day or have a student in both grades, you can choose whichever day works better for your family!

Below is an explanation of what to expect at orientation. PLEASE VISIT EVERY STATION. We recommend you bring cash or a checkbook and we suggest bringing your phone to take pictures of some of the forms (hard copies are available to those who request them). Lines seem to be the longest at 9am. Come ANYTIME BETWEEN 9am-1pm. Our orientation is an “Open House” format. If you are unable to attend, please ask a neighbor or relative to pick up materials, and picture ID’s will be taken by our Principal as soon as possible once school starts. Lifetouch will schedule our make-up picture date sometime in late October.

  • Have an ID/yearbook picture taken! You may order online on Lifetouch’s website Mylifetouch.com with Maltby ID EVTDD33GN. Maltby lanyards will be available to purchase for $3. Correct cash is appreciated.
  • Pick up your student’s schedule! ALL fines MUST be paid first in the school office (typically library fines).
  • Maltby/Brighton spirit wear will be available to purchase.
  • You will be able to deposit money into lunch account(s) in the cafeteria.
  • Place an order for your student’s Maltby class t-shirt with the PTO! Shirts are $7 each.
  • Pick up your student’s bus card! Be sure your student knows their HOME ELEMENTARY, as Maltby students are bussed to their home elementary school, then transferred to the bus that takes them home. The exception is Hornung students who will wait in the upper gym and then walk over to Hornung to board a bus home.
  • Talk to the yearbook representative! Yearbooks can ONLY be ordered ONLINE and are $30.
  • Supply lists will be available to take a picture of (if supplied by a teacher), but not all teachers request additional materials. The generic supply list is available on the Maltby web page.
  • Student planners will be handed out! There will be a station to tape your student’s schedule to the inside cover for safe keeping. The replacement cost for planners is $5.
  • Tour the building, find classrooms, and try lockers! * Please note: we have ongoing construction and some areas may be closed off for the time being.
  • Parents may drop off student medication with the medication form (and action plans if necessary) signed by the doctor (this includes over-the-counter meds!). Everything should be in the original bottle!

See you soon!
